Skin Cancer Detection using FotoFinder - the world's leading skin imaging system, offering the most accurate technology available for digital mole mapping.

Dr McKibbin has been practicing Skin Cancer Medicine since 2012, beginning with a qualification from the University of Queensland (Professional Certificate of Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine) and later his Professional Certificate of Skin Cancer Surgery.

Since then he has completed thousands of skin checks and removed hundreds of lesions including malignant melanoma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, all the while honing dermoscopy and surgical skills.

Dr. McKibbin will complete a thorough examination to help detect new moles and compare changes in existing moles over time.

Dr. McKibbin uses FotoFinder, a highly accurate computerised mole mapping system that uses high resolution photography and state of the art software to create an image database of moles of concern. Photodermatology helps ensure that no newly developed moles or changes in existing moles miss evaluation.

What is FotoFinder? FotoFinder is the computerised mole mapping system that Dr. McKibbin uses to create an accurate set of photos of your concerning moles. The high resolution camera is connected to a computer and transfers all photos directly to the doctor’s database, giving Dr. McKibbin the ability to compare your moles during subsequent visits and identify new moles or changes to existing moles on your body.

A non-invasive examination of your skin and any spots of concern will be performed. This involves looking through the hair and scalp, head and neck areas and other areas of your skin including feet and between your toes. The examination is done with a bright, handheld light with magnification called a dermatoscope which allows close inspection of the skin and any spots or suspicious lesions. Photographs are taken of lesions that may be of concern or need to be monitored.

Lastly, he will discuss the findings of your skin check examination including the condition of the skin, the nature of any spots that are of concern and a plan moving forward, including recommendations of follow up examinations or treatments, including biopsy. You will be given opportunities to ask any questions and discuss any concerns you may have.
